SIGNALS of POWER curated by Dieter Daniels&Katalin Krasznahorkai @Brandenburg Museum
“Signale der Macht” — Signals of Power // An Exhibition Co-Curated by Kata Krasznahorkai and Dieter Daniels
Currently on view at the Brandenburg Museum for Future, Present and History, SIGNALS of POWER explores the global entanglements of media infrastructures and colonial power—from the imperial radiotelegraphy station in Nauen to the wireless telegraphy stations in Kamina (Togo) and Windhoek (Namibia) – and back.
The exhibition examines, for the first time, this complex history from three memory-cultural perspectives. Through three newly conceived installations by artists:
Tuli Mekondjo (Namibia)
Madjé Ayité (Togo)
Frederike Moormann & Angelika Waniek (Germany)
visitors are invited into immersive spaces for personal reflection and critical engagement.
Accompanying these artworks are three narrative films and a dynamic archive wall that presents rare, in some cases never-before-seen materials—opening up the historical dimension in compelling and accessible ways.
I recently discussed the themes of the exhibition in an interview on Deutschlandfunk Kultur: 🎧 Listen to the radio feature
