How can memories of the Holocaust be passed on when the eyewitnesses are no longer here? The authors of this fully bilingual volume illuminate and analyze the »For real?« project whose VR technology and media-focused approach spark new ideas about educational responsibility. Their contributions explore how digital formats can foster empathy and historical understanding without reducing authenticity or complexity, and also examine the ethical frameworks of a memory culture in transition. The result is an urgent reaffirmation of the need to engage with the experiences of the survivors – indispensable for safeguarding democratic self-understanding in today’s political climate.
